Wool

For us, wool is an essential material for winter. Our commitment to using only natural materials requires acceptance of this animal product. Wool can only be replaced by technical fabrics made from unnatural resources. Through our standards, we ensure the sustainable treatment of the animals from which our wool originates. Therefore, we use only organic wool . The majority of our wool is also GOTS certified .

KbT stands for controlled organic animal husbandry. As with organic cotton, controlled organic animal husbandry primarily means the absence of chemicals throughout the entire production cycle. This means that no pesticides are used on the sheep or the pastureland where they graze. The animals' resistance to parasites is achieved through the cycle of healthy soil and healthy animals. This eliminates the need for often preventative chemical pest control. Organic animal husbandry (kbT) also includes species-appropriate animal husbandry and feeding, as well as the avoidance of growth promoters . Another important point is the avoidance of the painful practice of mulesing, in which large pieces of skin and flesh are often cut off the thighs and tails of young Merino lambs without anesthesia to prevent flystrike.

Advantages: Wool warms the body while remaining breathable. It absorbs moisture without feeling wet . Furthermore, due to its natural fiber structure , wool is dirt-repellent and neutralizes odors. Should an odor develop, a brief airing is usually sufficient to eliminate it. This also makes wool water-saving. Ironing is often unnecessary.

Disadvantages : Wool is an animal product, making its sourcing dependent on animal husbandry. Organic wool is very expensive and subject to natural properties. Therefore, pilling is almost impossible to prevent without the use of chemicals .
